Who has to take a driver education course?
A driver education course is required for those students under the age of seventeen (17) who have a permit and are interested in obtaining restricted driver’s licenses, which will allow students to drive alone during daylight hours.
What is the minimum age for a Driver’s License?
Fifteen (15) years old for a daytime restricted license. Teens must hold the Learner’s Permit for at least 180 days, complete the Driver Education Achieved program and receive a certificate of completion. Also, teens must have 40 hours of parent supervised driving, 10 of which must be after dark.
Do beginners need a Learner’s Permit to practice behind the wheel training?
Not with our state-licensed and certified instructors.
Is a Learner’s Permit required for behind the wheel training?
No.
What is the minimum age for a Learner’s Permit?
Fifteen (15) years of age.
When does a Learner’s Permit expire?
One (1) year after issue.
Who must be in the front passenger seat with a driver who has a Learner’s Permit?
Licensed driver at least 21 years old, with at least 1-year experience from 6 am to midnight, after midnight, must be a parent or guardian.
How much is your course?
We have different prices depending on which course you are interested in. Our teen/new driver education course consists of eight (8) hours of classroom instruction and six (6) hours of behind-the-wheel driving instruction is $425.00, and our insurance discount course consists of eight (8) hours of classroom instruction is $100.00.
What about tax?
While other driving schools may charge a tax on services rendered, Driver Education Achieved does not.
Are there any other fees?
No, there are no hidden fees.
Do you offer a discount if I bring in multiple students?
We do offer a discount for groups of ten (10) or more. Contact us if you have a large group so that we may discuss what discounts are available.
What information is covered in your teen driver education course?
Emergency situations, defensive driving, sign recognition, driving in inclement weather, distracted driving, use of drugs and/or alcohol while driving, etc.
How long does your course last?
The time it takes to complete our program depends largely on the student’s availability and readiness.
What if I feel that I’m not ready for the road test after taking your course?
If you’ve paid attention and practiced what we’ve taught you, you should have no issue.
Is the course done all in one day?
No, Eight (8) hours in a classroom on a Saturday and then two (2) behind-the-wheel training sessions that are three (3) hours each and will be scheduled around your schedule.

Will you pick students up and drop them off for driving lessons?
Yes, from home, work, or school.
Do you take students to the DMV for the road test?
No, we don’t. It is our belief that if we have taught our students properly, and students have practiced the maneuvers properly in their own cars, they will have no problems passing the road test in their own cars.
For driving lessons, how many people are in the car at a time?
For driving lessons, we do not allow ride-alongs. Only one student and one instructor will be in the car at a time. We feel that this lessens possible distractions for the students, and allows them to concentrate on the task at hand.
How do I get an insurance discount?
An insurance discount certificate is awarded to students or adults after completing our eight (8) hour classroom session successfully.
How much will an insurance discount save me per year?
The insurance discount certificate could potentially save you hundreds of dollars per year, depending on your age and which insurance company you are insured through. Driver Education Achieved cannot guarantee the amount of money you will save. Questions regarding discounts and savings should be directed to your insurance company.
What age groups do you teach?
Any age, but we primarily teach students between the ages of fifteen (15) and sixteen (16).
Do you teach adults?
Yes. While a large portion of our students is new teen drivers, we also welcome adults and gladly work to accommodate training schedules.
What certifications do you give to prove that students took your driver education course?
We offer students a PDLA form that the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicle uses, and an insurance discount certificate that the insurance companies use for the safe driver discount. Both certificates prove that the student did complete our driver training course.
Can you guarantee my child will get their license?
No driving school can guarantee that a student will test and receive a driver’s license at the DMV. Whether the student receives his/her driver’s license depends completely on the student and the time the student took to practice the maneuvers that he/she was taught.
